If Leaf Spot goes untreated it will evolve into crown and root rot or melting out.
Management
Increase mowing height and avoid excess nitrogen fertility. If necessary, a Fungicide can be applied for Disease Control.
Prevention
Avoid cutting grass to low, maintain proper cultural practices and aerate the soil to promote water drainage.
Identification
- Purplish-brown spots with tan center
- Leaves begin to wilt
- Thinning of grass
Causes
- 40-80°F temperatures
- Areas of 10 or more hours of wetness a day
- Low mowing heights
- High amounts of nitrogen
