Lawn Rust is referred to as the lawn mystery of the “Orange-Shoe Disease.”


Apply a nitrogen fertilizer and water in the morning to allow the lawn to try out during the day. If necessary apply a fungicide.


Maintain proper cultural practices, aerate your lawn once a year, and minimize shade if possible.


  • Yellowish-orange dots on grass blades
  • Thinning turf
  • Raised pustules


  • Occurs in early spring through fall
  • 65-86° F temperatures
  • Low-light & low-nitrogen
  • Drought stress and moist weather
